Nightmare on Elm Street 5

1989       Robert Englund

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child

Did you ever see a dream stalking...?

The kids on Elm Street have. For five years now, a walking nightmare has haunted them in their sleep, seeking revenge for the disfiguring, vigilante death he suffered at the hands of the children's parents. The nightmares name is Freddy Krueger. Mid he's made dreaming in Springwood hazardous to teen health.

Sporting his trademark fedora, striped sweater and razor-sharp claw. Freddy Krueger is back for another box office killing in New Line Cinema's fifth big screen frightmare, "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child." This time, the wise-cracking dream demon plans to give birth to a new definition of movie terror, as he seeks to be reborn via the pregnancy of his teenaged arch-enemy: Dream Master Alice Johnson (Lisa Wilcox).

The last time we saw Freddy Krueger, he was "resting in pieces" at the end of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master." Mice had saved Springw'ood by freeing

the souls of Freddy's past victims, who then tore Krueger limb from limb.

Now, through the dreams of Alice's unborn child, Freddy has resurrected himself anew. Weakened from his forced hibernation, Freddy seeks new victims among Mice's unbelieving high school friends -- circumventing our heroine's Dream Master barriers by stalking his new prey through the dreams of her unborn child.

In this way, Freddy not only grows stronger, he sets the stage for what he hopes will be his rebirth into the land of the living.

Ultimately, Alice must tap the powers of Freddy's mother, long dead Sister Amanda, to vanquish Krueger. Ghostly Amanda tells Alice that she must confront Freddy in the dreams of her unborn child, then bring Krueger "home' to the dreaded asylum in which he was conceived -- the only place that might seal Freddy's doom.
